Sculpture by Charlotte: Sculpting Process in Clay

About Me

From early in my childhood I began sculpting and studying the technique of sculpting from my father who was an experienced sculptor. I have had numerous solo exhibitions and have participated in a variety of group shows in Australia and overseas. My figures are inspired by my daily family life and my interest in and passion for dance and gymnastics. Most of figures of movement are silhouettes to capture the moment. My passion is observing people and their energy, then capturing that energy in a particular movement and making it three dimensional. I am particularly drawn to making sculptures which show all the dimensions and physical angles of the figure in action. Dance and gymnastics are some of the main inspirations bronze allows the freedom to capture the energetic sculpture poses with strength. My work also includes ceramic sculptures; these sculptures have their own unique glaze colours so none are the same. - Charlotte
